I've just been asked to help RevGuard---as their Lead Marketing Guru---to grow their business. I'm so excited about them---because they 'optimize', with multivariate testing, the communications with consumers when they call in to update or cancel their billings. I assured Video Professor I could double their sales in 1 year. Since they had fired four Ecom Directors for not hitting their goals in the two years before I showed up, they were skeptical, BUT, just 13 months later (with the help of a great team) I had driven sales up from $12 Million to $66 Million. Yeah, Baby!
I don't know why I didn't do this sooner. I have clocked over 10,000 hours of qualified projects. I've worked at companies with 10 employees or 10,000 and have been able to "Get S*it Done" and still remain friends with everyone. That's the hardest part of the job of a good PM, but definitely the most rewarding.
Because of my ROI driven focus, I've been a 'late adopter' for social media. Social media has been mostly a lot of 'activity' and expense with little direct ROI. (Forbes confirmed (in 2013) that only 2% of ecommerce is related to social media). I do believe that the risk of investment is now acceptable however and companies should adopt the few media strategies that are working. It is time to act.
